Leica M-EV1 - Low-Maintenance M Camera

Do we have the M that doesn't need maintenance here? There's no rangefinder. You have to do without the classic M focusing via the rangefinder. Focusing is done here, as with the Q, via focus peaking and the digital magnifier. And let's not forget zone focusing. If that's enough for you, you can continue using your collection of M lenses with this M without having to worry about whether the physical rangefinder will ever need servicing.

    The OLED EVF, like the Leica Q3, has a resolution of 5.76 MP. Perfectly adequate.

    So, you can shoot in "your style," just like with the Leica Q.

    If you don't mind shooting with an EVF, the M-EV1 is a very good option. Purists who can afford it and don't want to give up the classic rangefinder will stick with the classic M.

    Regardless of why you buy the M-EV1. It's a very good addition to the M lineup. Initially, we were all skeptical. An M, "M for measuring probe," an M that no longer has a measuring probe. Yes, but it's an M with which you can use all M lenses.

    One thing remains, though. The M system still isn't weather-sealed with M lenses. But that's why I always carry the Q2 as a backup, for example.

    And there's still no information, but hopefully an M-EV1 in a monochrome version will be announced. Since the Q2, Q3, M10, and M11 are available in monochrome versions, there's a very good chance that the M-EV1 will also be released in a monochrome sensor variant. We can only hope.
